My Birth Story

From Birthing Mother to Birth Worker

I didn’t just become a doula because I love birth. I became one because I lived it.

I know what it feels like to be in that hospital bed, unsure of what’s next.
I’ve felt the power of my body, the fear of the unknown, and the desperate need to feel held not just physically, but emotionally.

These are photos from my own births. They’re raw, vulnerable, and real. I share them not because every birth looks like this, but because mine did and it changed me.

Want to hear it from the heart?
This is the moment that changed everything for me.

Hi, I’m Maria. I became a doula before I became a mother. Supporting others through birth was already my calling but it wasn’t until I gave birth myself that I truly understood how raw, powerful, and life-changing those moments are.

These are photos from my own births, filled with emotion, intensity, and love.

They deepened my purpose. They reminded me how much support matters. That’s why I show up for you with presence, compassion, and a heart that understands.

Every birth is different. But no one should birth alone.

Every birth is different

But every birthing person deserves to feel held not just physically, but emotionally.

Whether your birth is calm or wild, long or fast, medicated or unmedicated. I’ll be there to support you with compassion, grounding, and presence.

I’ve been in that bed. I know how vulnerable it feels. And I know how powerful you are.

Because birth is so unpredictable, I limit the number of families I serve each month to ensure I can give you my full presence. If you’d like me to hold space for your birth, reach out soon.

When I gave birth, I discovered a part of myself I didn’t know existed.

I felt strong—and scared.
Held—and vulnerable.
Seen—and at times, invisible.

Those moments changed me.

I had already trained as a doula. I understood birth on paper.
But it wasn’t until I gave birth myself that I understood it in my bones.

Now, every time I support a family through pregnancy, labor, or postpartum—I bring that understanding with me.

How My Birth Experience Shapes My Doula Support

My own births taught me things that no training ever could:

  • I learned how important it is to feel safe when everything feels intense.
  • I learned that a kind, calm presence can quiet the chaos.
  • I learned that birth isn’t just physical—it’s deeply emotional, too.

So when I’m with you, I’m not just showing up as a doula with training and credentials.
I’m showing up as someone who knows what it’s like to need support—someone who’s walked through that fire and come out with more compassion, clarity, and purpose.

For the Families I Support

Because I’ve given birth, I can anticipate what you might need—sometimes before you even ask.
Because I’ve felt uncertain, I hold space without judgment.
Because I’ve experienced the highs and lows of labor, I know how to steady the room when things feel intense.

“Every birth I attend is different—but my presence stays the same:
Grounded. Respectful. Warm. Intuitive”

What I Wish I Knew Then

If I could whisper something to my past self in labor, I’d say:

  • That my emotions were valid
  • That I was stronger than I believed
  • That asking for support is powerful, not weak
  • That birth can feel sacred, even when it’s messy
  • That being seen and held can change everything

These are the same reminders I carry into every birth I support.
